W D (War Department) General Service - The War Department was a UK government agency in charge of supplying equipment to the British armed forces and managing military operations. In 1857, it was renamed the War Office. However, the term "War Department" continued to be used to refer to its military transport services, including the War Department Fleet and Railways who were super important for moving supplies like ammunition and food.
